An Encounter With An Ark

After our stop at The Hot Springs National Park, we continued our way back to the boat. We are currently waiting on a couple of parts to fix a few things to arrive for our boat. We need to have the work done before we put her back in the water. So, while we’re waiting at Dave’s Dad and Stepmom we decided to take a little trip. An Encounter With An Ark is what we decided to go check out.

We packed everything up and headed to Kentucky to check out the two sites. The Ark Encounter and The Creation Museum. One thing I would say is to plan a little bit. We had a hard time finding a campground that had an opening for 3 nights on short notice. Most campgrounds were all booked for the rest of the month. One place I called said you should call several weeks in advance. Luckily, we did manage to find a place about 30 minutes out.

Ark Encounter

Our first stop was The Ark encounter. As far as tickets go they do offer combo tickets you can buy that give you a $10 savings. Something that they only mention on their website (It may have been listed somewhere but, I didn’t see it) and not at the facility is a military discount. Anyway, if you are active military or a veteran they offer special pricing so, be sure to ask. We saved an extra $10 with this discount.

This is a full-scale replica of the Ark Noah built in the bible. So, It is built to the specs in the bible. It’s absolutely massive and really something to see. You can go inside and tour all the floors. They have recreated the inside with all the cages and containers that held the animals and food storage. you can tour the living quarters as well. They set up the interior according to how they believed it was set up. It was really a neat experience. They also have a zoo and more to do. But, if you do everything there plan to spend the day.

Creation Museum

This second museum has botanical gardens, an Eden animal experience, a museum, and more. So, we walked through the beautiful botanical gardens and the museum. Be prepared to read, there’s a lot of information. They have a dinosaur exhibit, live speakers, and more in the museum. The creation museum goes over creation as described in the bible. But, it goes over a lot of other information as well. It was full of information and a very interesting museum. Stay tuned for our next post we will be back on the boat.
