We arrived early Sunday morning.  Got tied up to the fuel dock and went to sleep till the marina opened at 8 am.  Once they opened Dave got us checked in and we got all checked in with customs and immigration through the roam app.  It worked great!  It was easy and we did it all from the boat.  Super excited we are finally in Puerto Rico.  We are in Puerto Real at Marina Pescadaria.  This is a great marina they are super friendly.  They will help you find anything or help you go where ever you need.

Marina Pescaderia

The marina is located next to a bar that makes gelato for dogs.  Could this be any more perfect for us?  After checking in and walking the dogs we got some more rest.   Next time to head out and explore a bit.  We got the leashes on the dogs and went around the local area and Mariana to check It out a bit more.  The streets are very tight so you really have to pay attention when walking and be mindful of all the stray dogs.  There are a lot of them.  Our dogs did ok with all the dogs and they didn’t bother us other than barking and following us for a bit.  After a good walk for the pups, we stopped in La Bodagedita next to the marina.  We had a delicious meal, AMAZING Mojito and two gelato popsicles for the pups.

What a great way to end the day from a long passage (long to us). We will spend about a week or so here.  Dave ordered an SSB and it was here waiting on us and there are a few other packages to arrive.   Couple items we want to fix and improve on the boat while we are here as well.  Tomorrow we are going to rent a car and check out some more of the sights.

Got the car rented and took the dogs along for a long day of driving and errands.  We stopped at Walmart, Costco and some other small shops to do some major re-provisioning for the boat.  We also spend some time at West Marine picking up a few boat items and ordering some things we had been in need of.  All of our errands were close to San Juan so we checked out Old San Juan as well.

Old San Juan

It happens to be Easter weekend so San Juan was crazy busy with tourists and locals.  We had a hard time finding parking and ended up just driving through the city.  We decided we would check it out another time when it isn’t so busy.

It has been a great week and a half but it was time to see more of Puerto Rico and keep moving south.

Early the next morning we sailed over to Gilligan’s Island.  I know what you are thinking to yourself right now. “ is that where they filmed the show Gilligan’s Island?”  No, it actually isn’t but it was a beautiful anchorage.  The spot is full of mangroves and it is very shallow.  You can bring your beach chairs and a cooler and sit in the water or just float around and enjoy the small fish and sea life around the area.    A very pretty tranquil little spot that can get quite rowdy on weekends.  Tomorrow we will head over to Ponce.

I have as always included some photos below.

See you next week,

Jill
